Bell Let’s Talk day is an annual event that encourages all Canadians to talk about mental health, work towards ending stigma and support mental health initiatives across the country. For every text, message, wireless and long distance call by Bell customers, every tweet using #BellLetsTalk, and every Facebook share of the Bell Let’s Talk Day image, Bell will donate 5¢ to support Canadian mental health programs. On Bell Let’s Talk Day 2015, a record 122,150,772 calls, tweets, texts, calls and shares resulted in Bell committing a further $6,107,538.60 to Canadian mental health programs.
CMHA – Calgary Region has been the recipient of funding from Bell Let’s Talk in 2014. With the funding, CMHA – Calgary was able to launch the Your Recovery Journey workshop. This proven peer-to-peer program focuses on self-directed goal setting, illness management, self-care and personal action planning. The project not only provides ongoing support to those who have just finished clinical care, it also creates a new network of expert peer facilitators and raises broader awareness of mental health issues in the community.
