Laureen MacNeil, the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Calgary executive director, said she’s happy to see this test provide a way for people to more comfortably check on their mental health and seek help early. MacNeil said she hopes this test will help reduce still-existing stigmas surrounding discussions of mental health.
“The number of people who take this survey, that’s kind of a proxy of how well we all are doing in the community,” MacNeil said.
“The thing is, we’re all unique and how we experience mental health or substance use is very unique. That’s why we have to have such a variety of supports for people. We always say any door is the right door at this point, but, hopefully, more upstream than downstream.”
