Continuing Connections
is a partnership program with Alberta Health Services
which strives to enhance quality of life for adults
under the age of 65 who have a mental illness and
reside in a continuing care facility. The program
connects residents with the community and encourages
activity to reduce feelings of loneliness and boredom.
Continuing Connections volunteers provide companionship,
and individuals in the program participate in activities
like bowling, art class and computer club –
as an opportunity to engage in life. This facilitates
improvement in self-esteem, restores hope and develops
healthy living.
