2018 will be the third year that Team Café Roubaix (the bicycle club associated with the Cochrane based bike shop) will be taking part in the Ride Don’t Hide bike ride.
Club members regularly take part in charity events, and the Ride Don’t Hide ride is a favourite as a number have been personally affected or know someone affected by mental health challenges. The scenery the ride goes through helps a bit too! We wanted to invite riders to join us for some training rides between April 29 and June 17. You’ll get to meet other riders, get used to riding on roads in groups, and gradually work up your distance as the weeks progress.
We will be hosting two training rides a week. Tuesday is our “Beginners’ Ride” at 6:30 pm beginning with a short workshop-based information session (how to fix a flat or dropped chain etc.). This will be followed by a short ride on quiet roads to build up your confidence.
Sunday will be a group ride leaving the store at 10 am sharp. This will be an easy pace, with no rider being left behind.
You will need a road-worthy bike (Road, Cyclocross, MTB, Hybrid), helmet, water, ride snacks/energy bars, and basic ride tools (spare inner tube/patch kit, pump, tire levers).
Café Roubaix is located 20 minutes west of Calgary in Cochrane at #4, 118 1st Avenue, Cochrane, AB T4C 1Z6.
