POSITION TITLE:                    Senior Analyst, Measurement & Evaluation

 

PROGRAM:                              Strategy, Grants and Performance

 

POSITION TYPE:                    Permanent, Full-Time

 

HOURS OF WORK:                35 hours per week

 

POSITION SUMMARY:         The Senior Analyst, Measurement & Evaluation is a specialist role responsible for working with the central team and across the organization to identify, source and use relevant internal and external data to support evidence-based decision-making, including but not limited to providing i) quantitative and qualitative research ii) meaningful measurement and analytics iii) synthesis, evaluation and report of insights.

 

REPORTS TO:                           Senior Manager – Research, Evaluation and Decision Support

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote and mentor for the use of insights and analytics across the organization; support users in understanding insights and analytics to support business operations and decision-making.
  • Keep up-to-date and provide regular updates on overall business and industry trends that impact CMHA Calgary business and its major programs and activities.
  • Conduct and/or lead research and analysis and provide data gathering from external sources e.g. environmental scans, stakeholder information gathering, and compile trends, themes and other relevant analysis of operational and strategic factors.
  • Synthesize information from various intelligence sources and gathering approaches, providing report of the insights derived in a way that makes them easy to understand, and guiding management review and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively to define meaningful measurement and analytics, providing design oversight and specifics for the development of standardized reporting products.
  • Provide analytical services and products, engaging teams and subject matter experts for collaboration on business problems/issues.
  • Support data gathering and analysis for reporting to various funders.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the department’s evaluation, measurement, and analytical practices, and the source data systems.
  • Maintain and steward confidentiality and security of all information in accordance with appropriate legislation, including Health Information Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, supporting CMHA’s Privacy Officer.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years of experience in a decision support environment in service organizations including experience defining and preparing analyses of operational, predictive, statistics and quality analysis.
  • Experience with program evaluation methodology and measurement, quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills and data presentation skills; keen attention to detail and accuracy, an organized and systematic approach to work.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and synthesize relevant sources of information.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision and work collaboratively; excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Adhering to confidentiality and privacy requirements for sensitive information.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field; credentials with a measurement, evaluation and/or analytics focus, along with skills in research, statistics, and computer applications.
  • Working knowledge and experience with program research, evaluation and organizational performance measurement and management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of not-for-profit and grant funding management is an asset.
  • Experience developing insights business intelligence tools and products; experience with the following would be considered an asset: Client Systems, advanced MS Suite, SQL server, SharePoint, Tableau, MS Suite, Nice to have: SPSS, R or similar programming.
