Michael Clifford’s Ride for Mental Health
To normalize and destigmatize mental illness, Michael Clifford rode his bicycle 70km every week starting from June 1 – August 7, 2021.
“Being a bipolar man there are many challenges I have had to face in order to remain healthy. I have had 5 manic episodes, each taking months to fully recover from. I use to categorize my bipolar as being mild, but this is not the case. Bipolar is a severe mental illness and should be treated as such.”
On Saturday July 31, Michael completed nearly 7 hours of cycling to complete a 100 km ride!
By soliciting donations from family, friends—online and door-to-door—Michael surpassed his original goal of $1,000 and raised $1,213 for CMHA Calgary.
Thank you Michael for your taking a step forward in the fight to normalize mental illness within our community!
