Steven Sproule brings over two decades of expertise in Human Resources, specializing in employee wellness and benefits. A former National Team swimmer and University of South Carolina graduate, Steve served as Manager of Health and Benefits at Husky Energy for 15 years before retiring in 2020. He led the implementation of impactful mental health programs such as Mental Health First Aid, Men at Risk, and The Working Mind. Now serving on CMHA Calgary’s Board, Steve is committed to supporting early intervention and community-based mental health initiatives. His previous volunteer roles include work with Swim Alberta, the Lindsay Park Sport Society, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health. Steve lives in Calgary with his wife Leslie and enjoys staying active and spending time with their two adult daughters.

Rob’s professional background enables him to contribute meaningfully to CMHA Calgary’s operations, strategic initiatives, and partnerships across Canada. With lived experience supporting family members through mental health challenges, he is deeply committed to increasing awareness and access to mental health resources. Rob is particularly passionate about maximizing the impact of every dollar invested in mental health. He believes that open, informed conversations are essential to building healthier, more compassionate communities. Outside of work, Rob enjoys time with family, traveling, biohacking, and watersports such as e-foiling.

Heidi Schubert is a lawyer with over 30 years of senior legal and leadership experience spanning private practice, government, and the non-profit sector. With strengths in governance, strategic planning, and operational delivery, Heidi brings a measured, thoughtful approach to her role on CMHA Calgary’s Board. She is especially passionate about Housing and Outreach, including CMHA Calgary’s supported transitional housing initiatives that help individuals develop life skills and independence. Heidi believes that mental wellness enables individuals to contribute more fully to their communities and that addressing mental health proactively reduces stigma and fosters connection. To stay grounded, Heidi enjoys travel, hiking, and spending time with her family.

He is especially passionate about initiatives like supportive living, transitional housing, and Recovery College, which reflect his belief in practical, community-based supports. Outside of his legal and volunteer work, Fraser enjoys quiet time with loved ones, reading widely, and indulging in sketch comedy.

His clinical knowledge and evidence-based approach support the organization’s strategic priorities. He was drawn to CMHA Calgary for its alignment with his values and his commitment to health equity. Dr. Nwachukwu is especially passionate about early intervention, peer support, and supported housing. He believes that vulnerable individuals deserve compassion, recognition, and protection. Outside of work, he maintains balance by spending time with family and staying connected to his African roots.

As a former Director at the Mental Health Commission of Canada, he led the Opening Minds initiative — Canada’s largest effort to reduce stigma — reaching over one million people. His career includes roles with the Alberta Mental Health Board and the Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health and Addiction. Micheal is dedicated to advancing inclusion, recovery, and compassion for those living with mental illness. His areas of focus include youth and workplace mental health, training, and stigma reduction. He believes that small, kind actions — like listening without judgment — can be pivotal in someone’s recovery journey. In his free time, Micheal enjoys tennis, golf, reading, and time with his grandchildren.

To maintain balance, Lisa enjoys walking her dog, spending time with family, supporting her children’s activities, and making space to recharge before stress takes hold.

He has more than 25 years of board experience in both nonprofit and commercial sectors and holds CGA, MBA, ICD.D, and Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designations. His broad expertise supports informed board discussions, effective governance, and thoughtful guidance for CMHA Calgary’s leadership team. Jeff is passionate about expanding access to mental health resources, particularly for workers in high-stress industries like construction. He is also committed to supporting individuals and families facing substance use challenges and dementia-related conditions. He believes mental health care should be as normalized and accessible as physical health care. To maintain balance, Jeff enjoys spending time with family and friends, and finds renewal through outdoor activities like camping, fishing, hunting, and golf.

Jennifer Findlay brings over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, specializing in Indigenous, community, and government engagement. With academic credentials in Psychology, International Indigenous Studies, and a Master’s in Community Studies, she offers a unique perspective on the intersections of mental health, culture, and community resilience. Jennifer’s board experience includes leadership roles with Miskanawah Community Services Association and the Influence Mentoring Society. Motivated by personal experiences with mental health in her family, she is passionate about CMHA Calgary’s work — particularly in peer support and post-discharge stability. Jennifer’s collaborative style and cross-sector experience help bridge opportunities between corporate, non-profit, and community partners. She believes that resilient communities are built when people have timely access to appropriate mental health care. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys long walks, boxing, and exploring new places with her husband — combining travel, movement, and great food.
