POSITION TITLE:                    Team Lead, Supportive Living Apartments

PROGRAM:                             Operations – Supportive Living Program (Apartments)

POSITION TYPE:                     Temporary, Full Time

HOURS OF WORK:                  37.5 hours per week (Monday -Friday) – 18 Months Term Contract

POSITION SUMMARY:             The Team Lead plays a crucial role, providing information and support as individuals embark on their recovery journey. The Team Lead delivers an excellence in standard of care while providing positive, compassionate service and problem-solving skills to help coach staff as they support our clients.

REPORTS TO:                         Program Manager, Supportive Living Apartments

KEY SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Using a client centered, trauma informed approach to support clients on their recovery journey.
  • Actively engaged in ongoing research on areas relevant to recovery framework with respect to suicide supports, trauma informed work, and mental health conditions and addictions.
  • Responsible for administrative items.
  • Conducts intake interviews.
  • Providing call support and manage day to day incidents as they arise.
  • Transporting clients if required.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations and provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the team.
  • Supervises staff performance through service planning, monitoring staffing and workload issues, file audits, and ensuring a flow of clients through the program and services.
  • Maintains and services client caseloads.
  • Works collaboratively with the Senior Program Manager and the other Team Leads to ensure a smooth transition through the continuum of CMHA services and into the community.
  • Orientate and educates program staff in understanding mental health services and the services of other community mental health agencies.
  • Provides regular evaluation of staff performance and addresses any performance issues identified, in conjunction with the Senior Program Manager.
  • Provide educational coaching on working alone legislation and safety concerns.
  • Consults on client and program related issues and facilitates their resolution in conjunction with the Senior Program Manager.
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled team meetings and provides staff direction on individual client service delivery.
  • Advocates for clients, when necessary, to ensure they receive adequate care, treatment, services and information from the community as well as CMHA.
  • Maintains client record keeping systems to ensure collection of required client demographics and service information for statistical reports and funding reports.
  • Participates in community liaison meetings as required.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services.
  • Training at Diploma level with five (5) years’ experience.
  • You have worked in the mental health field for over Five (5) years and have a deep commitment to and understanding of the recovery model. You demonstrate deep respect not only for clients but for the teams you support, your peers and community partners.
  • Must be able to be on call for some weekends (on a rotational basis with other Team Leads).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • ASIST training is an asset.
