Light the Way: Introducing the CMHA Calgary x Local Laundry Hoodie

Mental health is part of all of our lives.

It shows up in our families, our workplaces, our schools and our communities. And every day, people across Calgary are looking for connection, support and a place to turn.

At CMHA Calgary, that is what we are here for.

Last year alone, our work resulted in 162,974 service interactions, 38,921 people attending mental health workshops and more than 1.7 million minutes of real-time support.

Those numbers are significant, but behind every one of them is a person.

Someone looking for support. Someone learning how to better support a loved one. Someone finding community. Someone taking a first step.

And now, we have a new way for our community to help us keep that work going.

CMHA Calgary x Local Laundry

We are excited to officially introduce the limited-edition Light the Way Hoodie, created in collaboration with our friends at Local Laundry.

Available in a warm latte colourway, the hoodie will be available through a special presale from October 1 to October 15, 2026.

This collaboration is about more than creating something that looks good.

It is another way to start conversations about mental health, show support for the people around us and help build a community where people feel seen, connected and know where they can turn when they need support.

Wear it. Share it. Light the way.

A portion of every hoodie sold will support CMHA Calgary and our work in the community, including mental health education, peer support, connection services and resources that meet people wherever they are in their mental health journey.

Why It Matters

Mental health isn’t something that happens somewhere else, to someone else.

It can be your neighbour. Your coworker. Your friend. Your child. The person sitting beside you on the CTrain. It can be you.

And we know that accessing support isn’t always easy.

Recent research cited by CMHA Calgary found that 54% of Albertans are unable to receive the mental health support they need because they cannot afford to pay.

That is why accessible, community-based mental health support matters.

Through programs like Recovery College, Peer Support, Community Navigation, youth mental health education and other community-based services, CMHA Calgary works to make sure people have somewhere to turn before, during and after a mental health challenge.

In our most recent year alone, 2,716 participants enrolled in Recovery College courses and 607 contacts were supported through our Community Navigator service.

A hoodie won’t solve the challenges facing mental health in our community.

But it can help support the work happening every day. It can start a conversation. It can show someone else that mental health matters. And it can help us continue building a community where nobody has to navigate their mental health alone.

About the Light the Way Hoodie

The Light the Way Hoodie is made entirely in Canada and is cut, sewn and decorated right here at home.

The presale runs from October 1 to October 15, 2026. Only the hoodies ordered during the presale will be produced, helping eliminate unnecessary overstock and waste.

Production will begin once the presale closes, with hoodies expected to ship in mid-December 2026.

And with World Mental Health Day on October 10, right in the middle of the presale, we can’t think of a better time to wear your support for mental health.
