Rooted in Hope, Growing in Community: Reflecting on a Year of Mental Health Impact
Jun 23, 2025
At the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary), we believe that mental health is community health. Our 2024–2025 Report to the Community—titled Rooted in Hope, Growing in Community—is more than an annual update. It’s a reflection of thousands of moments of connection, resilience, and growth made possible by our team, supporters, and the incredible individuals we serve
A Year of Impactful Growth
Over the past year, CMHA Calgary has continued to evolve and respond to our community’s changing mental health needs. From launching new programs to deepening partnerships, we’ve worked to ensure our services are accessible, inclusive, and rooted in lived experience.
Here’s a snapshot of what we accomplished:
- 162,974 service interactions with individuals across Calgary
- 38,921 people attended mental health workshops
- 1.7 million minutes of real-time support delivered
- 2,716 participants joined Recovery College courses
- 607 contacts navigated through our Community Navigator service
Each number represents a person taking a courageous step toward wellness—and a community ready to walk beside them.
Programs That Change Lives
We continued to invest in services that empower and uplift. Our Peer Support, Recovery College, and YouthSMART programs offered tools for self-awareness and healing. New initiatives like our Community LAMDA housing and expanded Welcome Centre hours helped bridge critical service gaps.
We also introduced the Voices of Solution Makers series, spotlighting real stories of courage and healing—from youth resilience to high-performance athlete burnout. These gatherings became spaces for storytelling, empathy, and lasting community connection.
Partnerships That Push Us Forward
One of the highlights of the year was our partnership with YMCA Calgary, bringing Recovery College courses directly into YMCA locations. This collaboration increased accessibility, reduced stigma, and emphasized the importance of holistic wellness—both mental and physical.
We also worked closely with housing organizations and funders to provide wraparound mental health and housing supports, ensuring Calgarians could access stable environments in which to heal and thrive.
Stories That Inspire
This year’s report features powerful personal stories—like Navi, who overcame financial hardship through peer support and persistence, and Ethan, who turned his passion for sports into a successful stats website after finding stability through our housing program.
These are not just success stories—they’re reminders that with the right supports, transformation is possible.
Looking Ahead: Rooted in Hope
As we reflect on the past year, we remain firmly committed to building a city where everyone has the mental health support they need. Our guiding principles—hope, equity, empowerment, and collaboration—continue to shape our future direction.
With your support, we’re not just responding to mental health needs—we’re reimagining what’s possible.
