The Canadian Mental Health Association, Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary), invites qualified community leaders to join our Board of Directors. For over 60 years, CMHA has championed a person-centered service model, emphasizing early intervention and prevention of mental health and substance use issues. Our services aim to enhance community resilience and well-being measurably. CMHA Calgary currently offers community-based educational and counseling services, along with housing placement for individuals in need of long-term supportive living or transitioning from inpatient mental health care.

As a board member, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing CMHA Calgary's mission to support individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. You'll also contribute to planning and implementing programs that equip individuals with the skills and support necessary for meaningful community living.

In addition to these backgrounds, we seek individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strategic thinking abilities regarding organizational growth and change, and a dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals and families experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. Previous board experience or education is an asset; please highlight this experience in your cover letter.
We seek Board members who are not only passionate about mental health but also committed to advancing DEI within our organization and the broader community. Ideal candidates will have experience in advocating for underrepresented groups, a deep understanding of the challenges facing diverse populations in accessing mental health services, and a desire to drive meaningful change. We also actively seek to include lived experience as a core competency and welcome applications from individuals who represent equity-deserving communities.
