A Day of Golfing for a Greater Cause: Bluestar Invitational Golf Tournament Supports CMHA Calgary

By

This year’s Bluestar Invitational Golf Tournament was a day to remember—not just for the beautiful weather and competitive spirit on the course, but for the incredible impact the event had in supporting mental health in our community.

Since its inception, the Bluestar Invitational has been a proud partner of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Calgary, raising over $150,000 in the past three years alone. This year’s tournament continued that tradition of giving, with funds raised going directly to support CMHA Calgary’s wide range of mental health programs and services.

The event brought together passionate golfers, dedicated volunteers, and generous sponsors, all of whom share a common goal: to make mental health support accessible to everyone. The tournament featured a day of friendly competition at Heritage Pointe, one of Calgary’s premier golf courses, followed by an afternoon of camaraderie as participants came together to celebrate their collective impact.

But the real highlight of the day was seeing how the funds raised will be put to use in the community. CMHA Calgary provides a broad spectrum of services that support individuals and families facing mental health and addiction challenges. From mental health education and peer support to in-person workshops and online resources, the programs funded through this event make a real difference in the lives of many.

On a personal note, CMHA Calgary’s Drew Scherban shared his own journey with mental health, explaining how he was diagnosed with social anxiety at the age of 20. With the support of programs like those offered by CMHA Calgary, Drew was able to navigate his challenges and ultimately build a life filled with purpose and support. His story was a poignant reminder of why mental health advocacy and support are so vital.

A huge thank you to all the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event possible. Your contributions will go a long way in ensuring that CMHA Calgary can continue to provide essential mental health services to our community. Together, we are making a difference—and together, we are creating a world where mental health is prioritized for all.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the course next year, as we continue to drive positive change for mental health in Calgary!
