CMHA Calgary and YMCA Calgary Partner to Bring Mental Health and Wellness Programs to the Community

By

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary) and YMCA Calgary are excited to announce a new partnership aimed at expanding mental health and wellness programs for Calgarians. Starting on September 11, 2024, this collaboration will bring CMHA Calgary’s Recovery College sessions to the Saddletowne YMCA, offering free, accessible mental health education to support those facing life’s challenges.

Through this partnership, community members will have the opportunity to participate in four single-session courses designed to help build resilience, manage stress, and enhance overall mental health. These courses include:

  • Intro to Self-Care – Understanding the basics of self-care and its role in maintaining mental wellness.
  • Practicing Mindfulness – Techniques to stay present and reduce stress.
  • Dealing with Tough Stuff – Practical tools for navigating difficult emotions and life experiences.
  • Intro to Anxiety – Recognizing and managing symptoms of anxiety in daily life.

Why This Partnership Matters

The partnership between CMHA Calgary and YMCA Calgary reflects a shared commitment to creating healthier, more supportive communities where individuals can access the resources they need to thrive.

“CMHA Calgary is excited to partner with YMCA Calgary to bring these vital programs to a broader audience,” says Linda McLean, Executive Director of CMHA Calgary. “By working together, we can ensure more people receive the mental health support they deserve.”
