Canmore man prepares to scale seven summits to raise mental health awareness – The Star Calgary

Dupras has been dealing with clinical depression since he was 15 and it nearly cost him his life.

He didn’t get help until after he attempted suicide at 19. Since then, he’s worked hard to turn his life around. Through medication and speaking to professionals, he learned how to deal with his illness.

His passion for mountain climbing and the outdoors helped with his recovery and motivated him to help others through his passion.

Steve Leong said when Dupras reached out to him at Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), they were instantly on board with his project.

Through fundraisers, Leong said Dupras as been able to raise $9,000 so far for the CMHA’s Calgary region.

Leong said he’s been blown away by Dupras’s efforts.
