Community Mental Health Services powered by United Way of Calgary and Area
Harnessing the power of community, the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary) celebrates a transformative boost to its continuum of mental health services, thanks to the United Way of Calgary and Area (UWCA) and its Programmatic and Innovation Rider Grants.
The two grants support CMHA Calgary’s Community Mental Health and Wellness programs, including Recovery College, Peer Support, School of Peer Support, and its Community Education menu of offerings – YouthSMART, KidSMART, EQUIPPED, and Workplace Sessions. These programs work to build resiliency among community members facing mental health and substance use concerns.
CMHA Calgary continues to experience a high need for community-based and recovery-oriented mental health support. Thanks to the generous support from UWCA, combined with the contributions of various community supporters, CMHA Calgary is responding to the need to meet people where they are at through its continuum of mental health and wellness programs.
“CMHA Calgary’s educational programs and services provide an important part of our community’s mental health learning and well-being,” shared UWCA.
“The Recovery College and the Community Education programs provide a safe space for community members to enhance their mental health literacy and build resiliency to manage future challenges. CMHA Calgary continues to pursue innovation in their (…) mental health education and prevention programs to improve delivery into the community.”
CMHA Calgary extends its heartfelt gratitude to United Way of Calgary and Area for its continued support of our Community Mental Health and Wellness programs.
About United Way of Calgary and Area
Everyone needs a hand at one point or another, and everyone deserves a fair shot at a good life. That’s why United Way exists—to improve lives locally. But in a city of nearly 1.4 million people, it is impossible for one individual or organization to respond to all the social needs—strong partnerships are key to creating change in our community. United Way of Calgary and Area operates within a strong network of social services to build a connected system of community supports so everyone has access to programs and services when they need them, guaranteeing daily assistance for our community’s most vulnerable people.
