Michael Clifford’s Ride for Mental Health

To normalize and destigmatize mental illness, Michael Clifford rode his bicycle 70km every week starting from June 1 – August 7, 2021.

“Being a bipolar man there are many challenges I have had to face in order to remain healthy. I have had 5 manic episodes, each taking months to fully recover from. I use to categorize my bipolar as being mild, but this is not the case. Bipolar is a severe mental illness and should be treated as such.”

On Saturday July 31, Michael completed nearly 7 hours of cycling to complete a 100 km ride!

By soliciting donations from family, friends—online and door-to-door—Michael surpassed his original goal of $1,000 and raised $1,213 for CMHA Calgary.

Thank you Michael for your taking a step forward in the fight to normalize mental illness within our community!

This year’s teams were able to raise $2,420 to CMHA Calgary’s programs and services. Thank you Stantec for your passion towards mental health initiatives.

7th Annual Baxy Invitational Golf Tournament 2021 at Silvertip

The Baxy Invitational (August 28 & 29, 2021) was created to bring together a close group of friends for a fun and competitive golf tournament. As the tournament grows, maintaining a random partner draw is the best way to replicate the atmosphere of the original tournament and to create a strong dynamic with new people.

CMHA Calgary was chosen as the charity of choice for the 7th Annual Baxy Invitational by the 2020 tournament champions Spencer Brennan and Matt Kirlin.

Bluestar Invitational Golf Tournament 2021 at Heritage Pointe Golf Club

The money raised from the 50/50 was generously donated back to CMHA Calgary. In addition, Bluestar Engineering made a generous donation of $43,000 to CMHA Calgary. It was heartwarming to have wonderful donors like Bluestar Engineering making mental health a priority in our community.
